I was shocked on our 3rd visit to find that the food has gone way down in quality and even more so, the food `presentation` was deplorable to say the least. I ordered the filet mignon and stuffed shrimp with salad and baked potato. I sat in disbelief when the waiter served it. The salad was so wilted it looked like it had been sitting in the kitchen ALL day. I always order my salad dressing (blue cheese) on the side rather than on my salad. It was on the side all right, in a `plastic to go container` like you would get at a take-out joint! That was the beginning of the fiasco! Then the dinner was served. Now mind you, this was `filet mignon and stuffed shrimp`, a somewhat upscale meal. The steak had no taste whatsoever and it was somewhat chewy for a filet. The baked potato was just thrown on the plate, no foil to keep it warm, not split with butter and sour cream on it like most nice restaurants serve them. In fact, the butter was in those tiny little foil packets, hard as a rock, in a bowl and the sour cream was in those little to go containers also! The shrimp was the only passable item on my plate. I even had to send the first potato back because it was barely cooked and hard as a rock. I just could not believe that this restaurant that I had raved about on my prior 2 visits had gone down so quickly in quality AND presentation. We had asked 2 friends to join us for dinner there and FORTUNATELY they had to decline our invitation. I would have felt horrible if they had seen this after I had told them how great it was. I just cannot believe that this `family owned for decades` restaurant has reverted to being not even as good as a `fast food` joint. The restaurant itself is beautiful and is located on the bay with a great view but the food is not worth ordering. At least not at $20.00 per meal! I don't know if I will ever return there or not but I will definitely not invite friends to go with us `if` we do go again and I certainly will NOT recommend it to anyone.- Is follow up to post by ldyroadrunner ...
We've been here twice and the food and service were excellent. The bartender and the waitress we had were very, very pleasant and our waitress was very attentive. The food was A-1 and was served hot and in a very timely manner. The hostess was also extremely friendly and we were seated within just a few minutes on a night that was very busy. We went there on the "dine out" night right after the 9/11 tragedy. We were very impressed and will definitely return and look forward to bringing friends with us on our next visit.
